My Memory Machines are a series of assemblage pieces using my own photographs, journal pieces, negatives, electronic waste, and small personal belongings to explore the different ways we capture and hold on to memories. The Giver is one of the few books from my childhood that I remember vividly, and remained a favorite throughout the years. Memory Machine #3 is inspired by Lowry's exploration of the necessity of memory in our personal and communal development- from the beautiful and peaceful to the disgusting and frightening.
